History

The History of PepperFest:The first Amazing Pittsboro Pepper Festival was way back in 2008 and consisted of friends and family tasting Farmer Doug (from Piedmont Biofarm)’s different varieties of sweet bell shaped peppers, to help with his intensive pepper breeding project.  Toss in a few pepper dishes supplied by Angelina of the delicious Pittsboro restaurant Angelina’s Kitchen, and we had a party! In 2009 we took it up a notch and invited more local chefs, and we had Howie Dewitt on stage playing us some sweet music.  It was freezing cold in October, and we had about 200 folks show up to drink pepper beer and eat the delicious dishes. Then we went pepper-wild in 2010 and had more local chefs, more local beers and wines and we had a beautiful day in October…. more than 500 people showed up to eat, drink and dance to the sounds of Holy Ghost Tent Revival. In 2011, we had more than 25 food and drink vendors and fantastic musical performances by Lonnie Walker and Justin Robinson & the Mary Annettes!  We also had our biggest festival yet, with over 1000 folks in attendance! In 2012, we gathered about 30 food and beverage artisans together with local farmers, artists, entertainers for the 5th Pepper Festival!  It was a fabulous celebration…So, what’s in store for 2013…….?  You’ll have to come to find out!!  Hope you can join us!Pepper Festivals Past:
